Before Lady Gaga had a "Bad Romance", Jean-Luc Godard left us "Breathless"

While most Americans think of "Bonnie and Clyde" as the ultimate criminal couple, others would argue for the French dynamic duo featured in Jean-Luc Godard's 1960 gangster classic "Breathless." I first saw it in a film class at Columbia University, and almost saw it again last week at Film Forum. (My buddy Rob begged me to reschedule when he realized "Metropolis" was playing at the same venue).

This film is a milestone in international cinema and makes for a great night out. However, don't think the fun is limited to some of the earliest on-location film footage of the Champs Élysées and the mise-en-scène and a box of nonpareils.

You can visit the Worldwide Guide to Movie Locations to learn about all the places where the film was shot in Paris. Plus, the Rodarte sisters will be at Barney's New York (NYC) today from 1:00 to 3:00 PM signing limited edition T-shirts they've designed and movie posters in honor of the film's 50th Anniversary restoration and re-release.

Before heading to the theater, make the most of the opportunity and sweep Lancome's Artliner in Noir across your upper lashes to capture Jean Seberg's vintage look in one stroke. Adapt Jean-Paul Belmondo's iconic gesture (you'll understand after watching) and have your date brush a bit of balm across his upper lip. I suggest Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm by the also long respected Kiehls - Since 1851.
Hurry and buy your tickets. I promise you'll enjoy this one. The Parisian anti-hero in this black and white film is so seductive, your own sense of right and wrong will be blissfully obscured by shades of gray.
