Project Runway Season 9 Premiere's Tonight! Back with team L'Oreal!

Once again, I was fortunate and thrilled to be on the L'Oreal team for Project Runway. Watch the premiere of the Season 9 tonight on Lifetime at 9pm/8C. Don't have cable? Watch online tomorrow morning on MyLifetime.com.

I'm SO ready for this. I even randomly bumped into Project Runway All-Stars winner Daniel Vosovic with his boyfriend yesterday.

Pictured below are a few of the makeup artists, from this season's L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room, lead by Scott Patric. Be on the lookout for some fun new products and lots of color. Like all the best reality shows (Season 8 just received another two Emmy nominations), there are lots of surprise twists. I'm seriously sworn to secrecy, so that's all for now. Stay tuned!

Music video for Anya Marina - Whatever You Like

A couple years ago, Anya Marina covered T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" and I had a blast working on the video. I did makeup for Anya and the cast including guest stars Justin Kirk of Weeds and Daniel Vosovic of Project Runway.

Enjoy!

Drama Free Makeup Video: Classic Smoky Eyes

Here's a tutorial I did a couple years ago on how to get a great look for going out. A lot of girls already wear liner, mascara and powder. This is a simple look that builds upon what you're already are good at. Not so good at the basics? That's okay too. You'll see me working on the eye on the right, then our model, Kathryn does the other eye herself.

Enjoy!

Note: Please excuse my really bad haircut. I didn't know any better and since then, I've found Anthony from Ryan Darius Salon who's fixed a multitude of sins.

Natasha Bedingfield, The Red Dress Awards

Above is the lovely and talented, Natasha Bedingfield, on the red carpet before her performance at The Red Dress Awards, which took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center this week. Natasha killed it when she sang "Strip Me" off her new album, but while watching her performance of "Unwritten" on the monitor in the dressing room, it was I who suddenly had smoky eyes.

Ning Chao, the former beauty editor of Marie Claire, now brings you beauty advice via the blog at Beautylish.com. She wrote a great little piece about Natasha's makeup.

I'm thrilled to link you to the site where you can get the inside scoop on the makeup look I created for Natasha, as well as other trends. The products are listed below, but for easy tricks and tips on how to create a fresh and modern smoky eye, you'll have to click...then start blending!

Alice + Olivia, Baby Buggy, and Lancome host holiday party at Lenox Hill House

Just before the holidays, I did an event with the folks at Baby Buggy, Alice + Olivia, and Rita Hazan Salon, taking some time to pamper some deserving moms and treat their young kids to a holiday party at Lenox House. The event was covered by the NBC TV / LX New York. To learn more, read the segment transcript below, and visit BabyBuggy.org.

"So now to the new year, which, of course, means a new start. What better way to kick that off than with a makeover? And who better to get a makeover than some moms? Everyone loves a makeover, and who better to receive one than some deserving new mothers across the country. Alice and olivia with baby buggy couldnt agree more, traveling from city to city, spreading makeover joy this holiday season. Last week, they kicked off the event at the star-studded hollywood party. Ashlee simpson, denise richards, kourtney kardashian all came out to support other new moms. I brought two board games, a very cool monopoly game, and the other game i dont even know what it was called. Something a boy would like. Everything i ever wanted i brought. Mr. Potato head, elmo, hot wheels cars. And this week the tour stopped at lennox hill house, right here in new york. From allison and to kwlaif. Welcome to our baby buggy makeover day. Stacey and a styling team including lancome and a salon gave new looks to some deserving moms. So with everything this place, it was time to start the makeovers. Were just going to trim it up and give it a little more shape and open up the face a little bit. New hair, fresh makeup, the seasons hottest looks, and with their moms happily getting made over, the team made sure the children had a good holiday as well. Owe it all to you so after a day of pampering and some new toys, these moms are ready to start the new year with a whole new look. What a nice treat. After the break, one of the hottest stars on television. Find out what chris christina hendricks has to say about her "mad men" cast."

Vogue.com names @AndrewSotomayor among "Beauty's most influential personalities" on Twitter!

Vogue.com wrote a piece about how Twitter has become a destination to get the inside scoop on makeup, fashion, and skincare from "beauty's most influential personalities." Among the makeup artists who made the list are Troy Surratt, Sam Fine, Gordon Espinet, Bobbi Brown and me! I've looked up to the other makeup artists on the list for a long time. I'm thrilled and honored to be mentioned among them.

They say, "Before it's in fashion, it's in Vogue." If that's the case, then before it's on Google, is it @VogueMagazine? The only way to find out is to follow them on Twitter. Click the link below for the full story and to get the Twitter handles for the folks in beauty you should be following, as well as the team at Vogue who make it all happen.
